MUSIC ALBUM PACKAGE DESIGNS
& PRINT ADS

Working as an in-house senior graphic designer at Cleopatra Records for many years, I was fortunate to work on a variety of music album projects from physical products on Vinyl, CD, and DVD formats to digital cover art as well as print ads for national and international music magazines.

  • ROLE: Package Design and Layout

  • PROBLEM / GOAL: Design a 4-Disc CD box set package and LP vinyl package using five black and white images provided. The goal was to design the package to resemble the artist’s past album designs from the late 1970's and early 1980’s. The overall style would need to unify all the items for this project (the box, 4 CD mini jackets, 4 CD disc labels, booklet, LP vinyl jacket, vinyl labels, and the marketing sticker) in a consistent and cohesive manner.

  • SOLUTION: I created the concept for a bright 80's color palette throughout this entire project. By utilizing this color scheme, it ties in their previous album designs from the 1980's, and also creates a consistent and cohesive style for both the LP vinyl and CD box set package.

ALANA DAVIS

  • ROLE: Album Cover Art, Layout, and Package Design.

  • PROBLEM / GOAL: Create a CD album package using provided images and liner notes. The request was for an edgy cover art. Create a booklet layout using all the images, liner notes, and credits provided.

  • SOLUTION: The edgy cover art was achieved by a greatly saturated color palette to enhance the details of the image, digital layering effects, modern typeface layout, and the addition of the artist's handwriting. I chose the concept of a bright, saturated color scheme to echo and enhance the look of the lively island images that were provided for this project.

UFO

  • ROLE: Album Cover Art and Layout Design.

  • PROBLEM / GOAL: Create an LP vinyl album cover art and vinyl package using provided images, track list, and credits.

  • SOLUTION: A bold color palette of red, blue and yellow over a black background was used to focus and frame the black and white photos. The black and white image on the front cover was enhanced by the band's striking logo. The cover photo conveys a sense of movement, therefore the art direction I chose was to angle the image, logo, and title in an upward diagonal direction. There's a hint of an 80's arcade game style in the art direction I chose for the back of the jacket. This was achieved using specific typefaces, lines, layout, and colors.

L.A. GUNS

  • ROLE: Album Cover Art, Layout, and Package Design.

  • PROBLEM / GOAL: Design a vintage Wild West style CD cover art, booklet, 2-Disc CD labels, and a CD 4-panel gatefold mini-jacket using provided images, track list, and credits.

  • SOLUTION: The concept of a vintage Western style was achieved using a color scheme of different shades of brown, sepia tones, and a warm brick red along with the utilization of various textures of wood and old vintage paper. The layout of the images on the front cover reflects a vintage Wild West style Wanted Poster.
